WB DELEGATION ON TRANSPORT COMPLETES NEGOTIATIONS WITH AZERI GOVERNMENT

The World Bank (WB) experts on transport completed their mission in Baku, the Transport Ministry told Trend. During the visit the delegation led by Olivie Le Ber, the curator of the project on development of highways, held discussions with the Ministry and the government on works implemented on development of the transport infrastructure, reforms and construction of highways.

The Ministry said that they discussed project on construction and reconstruction of the Alat-Astara highway. “The WB will develop documents on new projects and submit to the Azerbaijani government for consideration. The documents are expected to be prepared in late November or early December,” the Ministry underlined.

The project on construction and reconstruction of the Alat-Astara highway requires approximately $400m. $300m will be allocated by the WB, while the rest part will be presented by Azerbaijan ($60m) and Iran ($40m). However, some international financial organizations also demonstrate interest to the project. The Iranian Passillo develops the feasibility study of the project. Iran agreed to allocate $40m credit in this regard.

The length of the highway comprises 243 km.
