Uzbekistan increases payment for telephone communications

Starting October 1, new tariffs for local telephone communications will be implemented in Uzbekistan. The new tariffs will be implemented according to the updated price list approved by Uzbekistan's State Committee for Communication, Information and Telecommunication technologies and posted on the website of Uztelekom company.

In the time-based payment, the monthly subscriber payment for the use of stationary phones in urban areas was increased to 1,700 soums from 1,540 soums. In rural areas, this price will be increased to 715 soums from 650 soums.

In the subscriber payment system, the tariffs will amount respectively to 2,239 soums (earlier - 2,035 soums) and 1,060 soums (earlier - 963 soums).

For the budgetary organizations, the payment in the subscriber payment system in the urban areas will be increased to 2,255 from 2,050 and in the rural areas to 1,067 soums from 970 soums.

Time-based payments of this price will be increased to 2,200 soums from 2,000 in the urban areas and to 737 soums from 670 soums in the rural areas.

The subscriber payment for the organizations not funded by the budget, will amount to 4,290 soums compared to the current 3,900 soums in the subscriber system (in the time-based system the tariff remained unchanged - 3,900 soums).

In the rural areas the payment for the organization not funded from the budget will be increased to 2,640 soums from 2,400 soums and to 1,870 soums from 1,700 soums respectively.

The cost of each full or partial talk minute exceeding the limit of 180 minutes in a month, which is included into the subscriber payment, is increased for all categories of users from six soums to seven soums.

Tariffs for connecting a new phone to the telephone network remain the same for population and organizations.

For the population this amounts to 20.7 thousand soums in Tashkent and Nukus cities and regional centers, 13.9 thousand sums - in the cities of regional subordination and district centers and 5.2 thousand soums - for other settlements.

Benefits for a number of individuals on providing access to the telephone network, and on payment for phone calls remained unchanged.

Tariffs for inter-city and international telephone communications remained unchanged.

In particular, the cost of one minute of talk with a subscriber in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan is 400 soums, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia - 500 soums; Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova - 440 soums. For other countries, the cost of one minute of conversation ranges from 1,140 soums (Europe) to 1,725 soums (Australia).

The previous ten percent increase in telephone tariffs in Uzbekistan were carried out in August 2012.

The official exchange rate for September 18 is 2,140.95 soum/$.
