Uzbekistan’s GDP increases by 7.5 percent in Jan.-March

Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 7.5 percent in Jan.-March 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, the country's First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Rustam Azimov said on April 18 at the country's government meeting that considered the results of the country's socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2014.

The volume of industrial production in Uzbekistan has increased by 8.9 percent, agriculture - by 6.2 percent and services - 11.8 percent during the reporting period.

The state budget of Uzbekistan has been executed with a surplus of 0.2 percent of GDP. Inflation has not exceeded the forecasted parameters.

Around 510 new facilities were commissioned, implementation of some 37 large investment projects was completed in Jan.-March.

Consumer goods production has increased by 12.8 percent, while retail trade turnover grew by 14.3 percent in Jan.-March.

Uzbekistan's gross domestic product increased by eight percent in 2013 compared to 2012, the volume of industrial production increased by 8.8 percent, agriculture by 6.8 percent, construction work - 16.6 percent, retail trade turnover - 14.8 percent, services - 14.3 percent and the volume of capital investment from all funding sources increased by 11.3 percent in 2013, according to the country's State Statistical Committee.

The state budget of Uzbekistan was executed with a surplus of 0.3 percent of GDP.

Inflation didn't exceed the forecasted parameters and amounted to 6.8 percent.

The government of Uzbekistan plans to achieve the growth of GDP at the level of 8.1 percent, industrial production - 8.3 percent, agricultural production - six percent, capital investment volume - 9.5 percent and inflation is planned to be kept within six-seven percent in 2014.
