Tajik president Emomali Rahmon dismissed the country's Defense Minister Sherali Khayrulloyev on Nov.20, Avesta.Tj agency reported today.
Khayrulloyev has served as Defense Minister for 18 years.
According to a source in the Tajik Presidential Administration, Sherali Mirzo, previously working as a commander of border forces within the Tajik National Security Committee, was appointed to this post.
According to the source, president Rahmon thanked Khayrulloyev for his long term service.
