Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on July 8 that work is underway in Turkey to create new ID cards, Sabah newspaper reported.

Reportedly, the new ID cards will differ from the previous ones in their design. The new ID cards will not include information about the citizens' religious background.

The new ID cards will also have a micro chip mounted on them for storing data on the citizens' passport, driver's license and bank accounts.

However, the date for putting the new ID cards into use has yet to be announced.
