Another meeting of the process relating to the Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and former Defence Minister David Kezerashvili was held in Tbilisi City Court on Wednesday.
At the request of the prosecution, the former Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri was also questioned in the meeting in connection with the selling of the Rike territory.
The case is related to the period when Gilauri was Minister of Finance. According to his order, the amount of money that was to be transferred from the state budget to the capital's budget increased.
During the process Gilauri explained in detail which stages these changes passed through till the approval. He later stressed during the talks with journalists that absolutely all amounts of money that are transferred today can be put under question in accordance with the same logic.
"For instance, why money is spent for pensions, why money is allocated for salaries and the construction of roads. Everything that is planned in the budget was approved by the parliament. Similar amounts of money were spent then and are today. Tbilisi has Sakrebulo that determines the goals of the budget. And the goal of the central budget and the government is to allocate transfers," Gilauri said.
Mayor Ugulava also made comments. "It is impossible that the prosecutor's office assesses the decision of a collegial or elected body. This would be the same if the prosecutor's office stated that this or that law is 'illegal', or someone took money. This is absurd," Ugulava said.
The legal process will be resumed on November 12.
