Russian State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and EU Special Representative for South Caucasus Philippe Lefort discussed the situation in the South Caucasus over phone on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said.
The EU representative informed about the main results of the visit of the EU, UN and OSCE co-chairmen of the Geneva discussions on stability and security in the South Caucasus to Abkhazia, Georgia and South Ossetia.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lefort informed Karasin about the recent visit of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, the statement said.
