Production Association Baku Telephone Communications of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan has begun work to provide an alternative communication source for the Eurovision-2012 song contest, the production association told Trend on Thursday.

This work includes the laying of fibre-optic cables and the installation of a digital network with integrated services (ISDN - Integrated Services Digital Network). The optic infrastructure will be brought to the building of the Public Television of Azerbaijan.

Work is being carried out according to the plan approved by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, which imposes certain tasks on all the structural units of the ministry.

Production Association Baku Telephone Communications will also provide a free referral service that offers reference information in different languages. Multimedia payphones will be installed in public areas and provide not only voice communication but also information services.

Terminals will be located in the central streets of the capital, in the crowded places and mainly near the venue of Eurovision-2012.

Multimedia Payphone is a fundamentally new device combining the functions of a payphone and a computer. In addition to conventional telephony services, the device allows access to the Internet to send emails and view video adverts.
