Presidential elections held in Azerbaijan meet the standards of transparency, freedom and justice, the statement of the observation group from India said on Thursday.

According to the statement, the elections were conducted in accordance with the national legislation of Azerbaijan.

The observation Group has also assessed the elections as a step forward in the development of democracy in the country.

The observation group consisted of 15 members of the Indian Parliament, who arrived in Baku for a few days before the election.

As the representative of the group noted, the voting process was monitored by many observers, including international ones. The Indian observation group did not record any violations at the polling stations.

Members of the group also held consultations with representatives of the political parties of candidates who, according to observers, also did not observe any violations.

Azerbaijani presidential election was held on October 9. According to the results announced by Azerbaijani CEC after processing of ballots from 99.53 percent of polling stations, President Ilham Aliyev gathered 3,118,287 votes (84.59 percent).
