Iran records growth in product imports to Sistan and Baluchestan province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The imports of non-oil products to Sistan and Baluchestan province located in southeastern Iran increased by 41 percent in value terms and 52 percent in weight terms in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024) compared to the same month of last year, customs inspector of Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan province Mohammad Ali Khashi said, Trend reports.

According to him, 48,300 tons of products worth $83.2 million were imported to Sistan and Baluchestan province in the first month.

The official stated that rice, sesame, red meat, tea, various kinds of spare parts, fabrics, etc. were imported into the province in the first month.

Khashi added that the products are mainly imported from Pakistan, India, the UAE, China, and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, imports of products to Iran in the last Iranian year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. The import of products increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.

To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing the products required by the country and imposes certain restrictions on importing the products manufactured in the country.
