ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 25. Kazakhstan will introduce a regime of austerity of public funds, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during his speech at the XXXIII session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan with the agenda 'Unity. Creation. Progress', Trend reports.

“We have received and are still receiving substantial financial resources on a daily basis from domestic corporations and entrepreneurs in various relief funds (related to floods). Their overall sum will probably continue to rise. I would like to thank the entrepreneurs and assure them of my confidence in our continued successful collaboration for the good of society. The purpose of all this money is to aid flood victims and rebuild communities. Every sufferer will receive compensation from the state for their losses, and nobody will go without assistance. We'll cut back on budgetary spending in favor of pressing projects like mitigating the effects of flooding. We will introduce a regime of austerity in the country,” he noted.

Tokayev emphasized that all Kazakhstani people support their affected fellow citizens.

“I realize that it is not easy to lose all your hard-earned wealth overnight. I would like to once again appeal to the affected fellow citizens: all our people support you. The state will do everything so that you can return to normal life as soon as possible,” he added.

To note, the floods in Kazakhstan began in March. A state of emergency was declared in eight regions of the country at the local level. As a result of the floods, thousands of houses remained underwater, and over 119,000 people were evacuated. Tens of thousands of people were involved in rescue work.
