Azerbaijan , Baku /corr Trend S.Agayeva / Bill Davis, the US Navy-General who is currently visiting Azerbaijan , has informed Trend that the US Navy is prepared to assist Azerbaijan in demining areas. At present the US Navy is able to assist in organizing de-mining training within serious situations, the training of personnel, etc. Special attention will be given towards mine awareness actions.
The problem was discussed at a meeting with the Director of the Azerbaijan National agency for Mine Action ( ANAMA ), Nazim Ismayilov. Up to now, there have been 190 injuries with approximately 40 deaths in Azerbaijan through lack of experience in the de-mining process.
The US Navy delegation, which arrived in Baku on 21 February, visited an ANAMA base in Khanlar District .
