Radical Vahabism in Azerbaijani National Army Alarms – Azerbaijani MP
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / Vahabism in the National army of Azerbaijan causes alarm, MP Bahar Muradova, the Vice Speaker, said to journalists on 30 October.
According to Muradova, vahabism and other similar religious trends may damage religious tolerance in Azerbaijan.
Recently, the officer of the military unit N in Khanlar region of Azerbaijan, lieutenant Kamran Asadov, who was in collusion with members of the radical Vahabism group, deserted the military unit. Earlier Asadov stole a large amount of armaments.
As a result of operations the radical Vahabists group was detained by the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry's employees.
Prevention of the crime showed the situation in the country was under control, Muradova said.
"We are not tolerant towards crime directed against mankind, as well as murder and terror," theAzerbaijani MP said.
