Azerbaijan and Switzerland Plan to Simplify Visa System

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / Azerbaijan and Switzerland are planning to simplify the visa system. The issue will be discussed by the two countries during the meetings which began in Geneva on 27 November, it was reported by Elchin Amirbayov, the Azerbaijan ambassador to Switzerland.

Simplification of the visa system with Switzerland which is the member of the Schengen zone will cause more free transference for Azerbaijanis to Europe.

The Schengen zone includes fifteen European countries, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Portugal, France, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Finland and Switzerland. From December 2007 the Schengen zone will be expanded in which ten countries will join the zone, these being Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Malta and Switzerland.

The second round of political consultations is being held under the chairmanship of the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, Khalaf Khalafov and Deputy Secretary of Switzerland Anton Talman.
