Opposition Presidential Candidate Meets with CIS Observation Mission Official

Azerbaijan, Baku, 98 October/ Trend , corr A. Huseynbala/ Candidate from Azerbaijan's opposition Great Establishment Party Fazil Gazanfaroglu said he will not make changes in the  foreign policy of the country if he is elected president.

"I do not plan serious changes in foreign policy line and support further improving relations," presidential candidate Fazil Gazanfaroglu said at his meeting with deputy head of CIS observation mission Oleg Kuleba.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. A total of seven candidates will take part in the elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

Opposition Great Establishment Party (GEP) has been founded in 2004 and was granted state registration in 2005. Fazil Gazanfaroglu is the MP of Azerbaijani parliament.

GEP leader said once he is elected president, his main focus of attention will be Azerbaijan's admission to EU.

"Azerbaijan's admission to EU can be described as preferring not West countries, but west values," he said.

Gazanfaroglu said he hopes to gain support of medium layer of population, intellectuals, military men and that outcome of voting will not be falsified.
