Lithuania Praises Presidential Elections in Azerbaijan: Ambassador
Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 October / Trend corr. N.Abdullayeva/ Lithuania positively estimates the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Kudzmanas said to Trend in a telephone conversation on 15 October.
Seven candidates are participating in the 15 October presidential elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.
Lithuanian representatives in Azerbaijan observed the elections in the Guba-Davachi and Salyan regions.
"Over 45% of population voted in the Guba-Davachi region by noon. The activity is even higher than at the recent elections in Lithuania," said Ambassador.
According to Kudzmanas, the voters are satisfied and no violations have been revealed. "The elections are well organized. International standards have been taken into account."
