The Kyrgyz special service organizations arrested a Kazakh citizen, suspected in terrorist activities, Kazakh Foreign Minister Ilyas Omarov said in a news conference in Astana on July 20.
According to initial data, one of 18 arrested on suspicion of terrorist activities is a citizen of Kazakhstan. He has resided in Kyrgyzstan for more than 10 years, Ilyas Omarov added.
The Foreign Ministry did not name the suspected.
Earlier, the Kyrgyz State Committee on National Security released news about arrest of 18 people in June-July in suspicion of holding terrorist activities in Kyrgyzstan. Report of the Kyrgyz State Committee on National Security said these were citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Five of the arrested were trained in foreign terrorist camps and some others participated in fighting against the anti-terrorist coalition forces in Afghanistan.
