On Friday Uzbek President Islam Karimov received U.S Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke.
According to the U.S. embassy in Uzbekistan, several issues of mutual bilateral interest, including international efforts to establish peace in Afghanistan were discussed at the meeting.
A visit of U.S. Special Envoy to Uzbekistan is held in accordance with the arrangements within the annual Uzbek-U.S political consultations, launched in Washington in December.
From Feb. 17 Richard Holbrooke is visiting the countries of Central Asia, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
Richard Holbrooke was appointed U.S special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan in January 2009.
