Azerbaijani Ambassador passes his credentials to Peru President

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Muhtarov, who is also appointed as Ambassador to Peru, passed his credentials to Peru's President Oliante Umale Tasso, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Mexico told Trend on Tuesday.

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Muhtarov, who is also appointed as Ambassador to Peru, passed his credentials to Peru's President Oliante Umale Tasso, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Mexico told Trend on Tuesday.

The Azerbaijani Ambassador and the President of Peru exchanges views on development of multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Peru, including prospects of cooperation in the fields of energy, political relations and other issues of mutual interest.
Muhtarov informed the President of Peru of Azerbaijan's history and culture, paces of economic development, and the existing potentials.

Opportunities of cooperation in the field of education were also explored. The Ambassador noted that young Peru diplomats can add to their education through studying a program implemented by the Azerbaijani Diplomatic Academy. The President of Peru voiced his interest in this.

Besides, Muhtarov informed the President of Peru about Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan and about the process of talks over a negotiated solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The Azerbaijani Ambassador earlier passed the copies of his credentials to Peru Foreign Minister Rafael Ronkagliolo. Having congratulated the Ambassador with Azerbaijan's being elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the Minister said Peru wants political cooperation between Lima and Baku to develop.

Prospects of cooperation in the energy field, particularly, the possibility of investing at the sidelines of international energy projects under implementation was examined at a meeting with the Peru Energy and Mining Industry Minister Carlos Errera Deskalzi.

On his visit, the Ambassador also met Deputy Culture Ministers of Peru. The sides agreed to arrange mutual Days of Culture in 2012.

The Ambassador also met other officials of Peru's Foreign Ministry, senior executives of the Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Academy, and members of the Congress. A series of issues of bilateral relations were discussed at the meetings.
