Voting in repeated, additional and new municipal elections started Wednesday at 08:00 in Azerbaijan.

1549 candidates for 464 vacant seats were registered in 330 municipalities. There are approximately four candidates for each vacant seat.

305 of the candidates are female (19.69 percent). 673 candidates (43.45 percent) have higher education, 605 (39.06 percent) - secondary Education, 265 (17.11 percent) - secondary special education, six (0.38 percent) have incomplete higher education.

Candidates from nine political parties - Yeni Azerbaijan Party, Ana Veten Party, Social Prosperity Party, Civil Solidarity Party, Popular Front of Integrated Azerbaijan, Great Creation Parties, Democratic Reforms Party, and Civil Unity Party are running for the elections.

709 candidates are not members of any party.

About 9923 people were registered as observers. About 1,155,864 voters will be able to take part in the elections.
