The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs' report on Azerbaijan will be prepared in two years.

Co-rapporteurs Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Debono Grech have held a press conference in Baku today following the visit to Azerbaijan.

"The purpose of the visit was to prepare the second report on Azerbaijan," Agramunt stressed. "The report will be prepared in two years. The Azerbaijani government is open to all our recommendations."

The previous report was adopted in January 2013. It was supported by 197 votes. Around 13 votes were against it.

The co-rapporteurs urged the government to investigate the cases of exerting pressure on some journalists, to ensure freedom of expression and to reach a compromise in connection with the allocation of places for holding the demonstrations in Baku.

They stressed that the meetings were held with the President, Interior Minister, Justice Minister, the Attorney General, chairman of the Supreme Court, as well as representatives of opposition parties and civil society during the visit.

The co-rapporteurs also met with leader of Real movement Ilgar Mammadov and deputy chairman of Musavat party Tofig Yagublu.
