BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Azerbaijan is amending its law on intelligence and counterintelligence activities, permitting agencies to withhold reasons for rejecting individuals from military service within these organizations, Trend reports.
The issue was discussed during today’s session of the
Azerbaijani Parliament. The fundamental goal of the newly proposed
legal provision is to ensure secrecy in accordance with the unique
roles played by these entities.
The suggested modifications also seek to improve the expertise and
abilities of those working in the intelligence and
counterintelligence domains. The revisions will increase these
organizations' ability to work with foreign law enforcement and
intelligence organizations for professional growth and training
through pertinent programs.
After the debate, the amendment was voted on and passed on its
first reading.
