ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 22. Turkmenistan and Malaysia are set to strengthen their economic cooperation, focusing on new opportunities across various sectors, Trend reports via the Turkmen embassy in the country.

This development followed two key meetings between Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Malaysia, Muhammetniyaz Mashalov, and high-level Malaysian officials aimed at deepening bilateral relations.

Ambassador Mashalov met with Dr. Shazelin Zainul Abidi, Head of the South and Central Asia Department at Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussion centered on expanding cooperation in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields. Both parties highlighted the importance of high-level visits to foster closer ties.

In a separate meeting, Ambassador Mashalov met with Hajiji Noor, Chief Minister of the Malaysian state of Sabah. The talks focused on exploring new partnerships, particularly in agriculture, education, and tourism, which both sides agreed would offer mutual benefits. The meeting concluded with both officials reaffirming their commitment to building a robust partnership that supports regional development.

These meetings underscore the ongoing efforts by Turkmenistan and Malaysia to enhance their bilateral relationship, with a focus on boosting economic ties and creating new avenues for cooperation.
