ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 22. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a working group meeting dedicated to the development of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Country Framework Program for 2024-2029, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's MFA.

According to the information, the spotlight was shone on the peaceful harnessing of atomic energy in Turkmenistan, particularly in crucial areas like medicine, agriculture, environmental stewardship, and the management of water resources.

The sides discussed key aspects of cooperation, emphasizing the importance of further interaction in these areas.

In addition, emphasis was placed on cooperation in the field of medicine, particularly in the fight against cancer. It was noted the importance of the IAEA imPACT program implemented in Turkmenistan, which is aimed at monitoring and coordinating joint actions in this field.

After the discussion, the parties pledged to continue working on atomic energy concerns for peaceful reasons, taking into account Turkmenistan's long-term goals of sustainable development and national potential.

To note, the IAEA conducts comprehensive imPACT missions to improve national cancer control systems in Member States. The missions make it possible to assess national capacities, identify priority measures, and develop effective strategies based on available resources.

The imPACT assessments also involve WHO and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, providing advice on planning and resource allocation for an effective response.
