BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. The COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, in collaboration with the State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan Hotel AssociationIn continues to take appropriate steps to improve competence in the field of sustainable development in preparation for the global climate conference COP29, scheduled to take place on November 11-22, 2024, in Baku, Trend reports.

As part of this initiative, hotels across the country are participating in relevant training sessions.

The training programs, developed by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company based on sustainable development guidelines, are being led by specialists from the organization. These sessions aim to enhance the capabilities of the local hospitality sector and ensure alignment with international standards. The training has involved hotels operating in Baku, Absheron, and Sumgayit.

To note, the sustainable development recommendations crafted by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company in the hotel and guest sector incorporate leading international practices. This document addresses issues such as promoting responsible resource management, supporting the local economy, and ensuring inclusivity, thereby contributing to positive environmental, social, and economic outcomes. A key priority highlighted in the guidelines is to ensure accessibility for all guests throughout hotel infrastructure and services.

The recommendations also encourage collaboration with local businesses and suppliers to reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector. They advise the implementation of infrastructure and methods aimed at conserving energy.

Additionally, the document outlines strategies for minimizing the carbon footprint, including the adoption of energy-efficient installations and technological innovations to conserve valuable resources like water, as well as reducing waste generation, particularly plastics, and developing an effective recycling management system.
