TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 22. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have signed 33 agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation between the regions of the two countries, Trend reports.
The Uzbek-Kazakh Interregional Forum in Samarkand witnessed the signing of the documents.
The focus of these agreements is to enhance direct interaction, implement joint projects, and increase mutual supplies of finished products. The forum also featured a meeting of entrepreneurs from both countries.
Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade in Uzbekistan, and Arman Shakkaliev, Minister of Trade and Integration in Kazakhstan, led the delegations, which also included representatives from ministries, agencies, regional administrations, and over 200 major companies from both countries.
The parties emphasized the importance of developing partnership ties at the interregional level, highlighting promising areas such as agriculture, the agro-industrial sector, textile products, and consumer goods, as well as the exchange of experience and technology.
Additionally, both states identified significant opportunities for entrepreneurs linked to the operation of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation "Central Asia," which will function in Uzbekistan's Syrdarya region.
To note, over the past seven years, trade turnover has increased from $2 billion to $4.4 billion in 2023. From January through September 2024, this figure reached $3 billion. In Uzbekistan, around 1,100 enterprises with Kazakh capital operate in the fields of food and textile processing, construction materials, and other sectors.
