BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Azerbaijan Railways is developing a decarbonization strategy and action plan that focuses on investments in clean technologies, renewable energy use, and the modernization of energy-efficient infrastructure, Acting Head of the Research and Development Center at the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Orkhan Ahmadzade said at an information event titled "Innovations in Railroad Technology in Azerbaijan: Partnerships and Opportunities for German Companies" in Baku, Trend reports.
"Sustainable development is a key component of our growth strategy. We are developing a decarbonization strategy and action plan that includes investments in eco-friendly technologies, the use of renewable energy, and the modernization of energy-efficient infrastructure. In the future, Azerbaijan's railways plan to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI), implementing AI-based solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and real-time decision-making," he said.
He noted that AI will be used for infrastructure monitoring, predicting maintenance needs for rolling stock and infrastructure, managing train schedules, and optimizing cargo handling. This initiative aims to ensure quicker response times, improved accuracy, and more reliable services for businesses.
"Our plans also include investments in training programs for railway staff. This is essential to ensure our team is well-prepared to work with advanced systems and provide better service to businesses. The business climate in Azerbaijan is rapidly changing, and railways play a central role in the country's economic transformation," he added.
