Andreas Gross and Andreas Herkel, the PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs, visited Gabala and Shaki, a regional correspondent of Trend.
Welcomed by Nazim Ibrahimov, the had of the Gabala District Executive Power, the rapporteurs met with local opposition parties, including Musavat, Democratic., Liberal and Vahdat Parties, and the non-governmental organizations in the headquarters of the National Independence Party of Azerbaijan.
Farzali Gasimov, the chairman of the Committee on Defense of Democratic Elections and Human Rights, said that his visit targets study of pre-elections campaign in the regions.
Noting the existence of political prisoners in the region they also voiced hoped in cessation of the problems in the near future. The diplomats expressed the concerns on serious polarization existing in the Azerbaijani society.
