President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received on 25 January 2006 director of Federal Agency on protection of state and fight against terrorism of Austria Gerdt-Rene Polly, Trend reports.
During the talk the head of the state stressed the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Austria. Having noted that Austria is currently the acting chairman of the European Union (EU), Alive said, Azerbaijan collaborates closely with EU, in particular, it is actively involved in the EU New Neighborhood Policy.
President noted the danger of terrorism today is of a global character and Azerbaijan is very energetic in fighting terrorism, contributing to the peace and security in the world and in the region. Ilham Aliyev voiced confidence, the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Austria will develop further.
Gerdt-Rene Polly, in his turn, noted the important role of Azerbaijan in fighting terrorism, stressing the cooperation with Baku in this sphere is significant for Vienna. According to him, Azerbaijan has a very important geo-strategic position, noting, the country has good opportunities for integration into EU.
