Reps of Jewish community of US starts visit to Baku

A Jewish community of the United States - Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations - started a visit to Azerbaijan on Friday. The delegation headed by Harold Tanner, the chairman of the organization and Malcolm Hoenlein, the deputy chairman, has rich visit program, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend.

The representatives of the Jewish community started the visit with a tribute at the Cemetery of Martyrs and The Cemetery of Honors in the morning hours. In the afternoon the delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with the representatives of the Jewish community of Azerbaijan and visit the Jewish synagogues.

On 11 and 12 February the delegation will participate in a conference which will focus on dynamic of changes in Russia, Ukraine and Caucasus and their significance for the Jewish community, the changes ongoing in the spot-Soviet area and living conditions of Jews.

The delegation plans to hold official meetings on 13 February. They will meet with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. They are also scheduled to hold a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In the end of the visit the delegation will give a news conference, the same source said.
