Peace negotiations between Azerbaijan & Armenia - more acceptable version ensuring long-term peace in region, Lori Bristow

The statements on military settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, voiced recently, are apprehended negatively, Lori Bristow, the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, said on Monday, Trend reports referring to ATV channel.

According to Bristow, peace negotiations are more optimal way of solution of the problem. The UK supports continuation of negotiations process and regards it as more acceptable version, which ensure long-term peace in the region and meet interests of all sides, the British diplomat stressed.

According to Bristow, he did not have any illusions in relation to possible military solution of the problem, frozen during many years. I want to mention that the Azerbaijani and the Armenian Presidents are loyal to the liabilities on peace settlement of the conflict and I support their position, the Ambassador stressed.

As to adoption of the resolution by the European Parliament in relation to alleged destruction of Armenian headstones in the Julfa region, Azerbaijan, Bristow noted that he did not have any information in this regard. The document basing on personnel positions of MPs doesnt reflect the positions of their states, the diplomat said.
