President Aliyev accepts First Deputy PM's resignation

Azeri President Ilham Aliyev accepted on 19 May 2006 a request by the Azerbaijani First Deputy Prime Minister, Abbas Abbasov, on his resignation, Trend reports.

In his application submitted to the head of state Abbasov underlined that the 2006 sees the 14th year of appointment as the First Deputy Prime Minister. Heydar Aliyev played a key role in my career. I regard your pleasant treatment as the best estimation

of my activities.

According to Abbasov, it is necessary to carry out uninterrupted rotation in staff and bring people with modern world outlook to the high ranking positions in line with the existing situation. On the eve of the presidential elections you stated you will be President of every Azerbaijani citizen and you took your promise. I ask you to accept my resignation, says the appeal.

In accordance with another decree by the Azerbaijani President, Abbasov was awarded Order of Independence for his merits in the state service.
