The Parliament of Kazakhstan has appointed Karim Masimov as the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
On 10 January, 2007, Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan, submitted the candidacy of Masimov for Parliament's consideration, Trend reports citing Reuters.
Mr. Masimov has been Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan since January 2006. Since October 2006 he has assumed the post of Minister for Economy & Budget Planning.
On 8 January 2007 former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Danial Ahmatov, resigned.
In accordance with the law, the resignation of the Prime Minister means the resignation of the Government as a whole. President Nazarbayev accepted the resignation of the Government.
