Lieutenant-Col. in reserve Uzeyir Jafarov, an expert for military issues, informed Trend that Azerbaijan may produce fighters; however it is a little early to our country.
A few days ago, the Turkish and American Defence Ministries signed an agreement on the joint production of F-16 fighters. According to the agreement signed, Turkey will be engaged in the production of these jets.
Mr. Jafarov said that the implementation of such projects would be very important for our country in the future as well.
It is one of the key fields of the defence industry. It is an advantageous field that is justified. If Azerbaijan has such an opportunity, then other countries of South Caucasus may take this advantage as well, said Mr. Jafarov.
According to him, the most state-of-the art models should be used at constructing Azerbaijan military and defense complex.
Mr. Jafarov said that the defense industry of such countries like Turkey, USA, Ukraine, Iran, Russia, Byelorussia is highly developed. One country here may use the experience of another one only through bilateral agreement, said the expert. Mr. Jafarov said that one of the Baku defense industry enterprises has produced spare and component parts for military planes.
