Azerbaijan Telecommunication Ministry Submitted New Proposals to Tariff Council

Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Minister, said during the today meeting of the Caspian Integration and Business Club that the Telecommunications and IT Ministry has submitted new packages of proposals to the Tariff Council of the Country, Trend reports.

According to him, various telecommunication services are currently widely available in the country, and there is imbalance of tariffs on these services.

New proposals have been prepared to solve the issue. Increasing the subscription fee is the key aim. Taking into account indigent strata of the population, a free of charge limit at 450 minutes will be introduced, he said.

He said that reducing tariffs on international and inter town domestic calls had been envisaged.

I consider that the tariffs will be reduced, not increased, said the Minister.

As to introduction of the new tariffs, the Minister did not rule out that the Council might view corresponding proposals in March, 2007.

The present primary cost of each stationary telephone in the country is estimated at 3 AZN, while the monthly subscription fee has been fixed at 70 gapiks.
