Azebaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Chairman of the National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan, Nushiravan Maharramli, stated that the period for issuing licenses for two regional TV channels of Azerbaijan will be extended to March. According to him, the issue of presenting licenses to two regional TV channels, "Aygun" TV and "Lankaran" TV, as well as ANS has not been resolved yet. They will be considered at the meeting of the Council in March, and until 20 April a decision will not be made in relation to ANS. In addition, Maharamli said that there are entrepreneurs who are engaged in illegal cable broadcasting in Azerbaijan and the Council tries to stop their activities. "We should prevent those who are engaged in illegal broadcasting, and measures should be taken in connection to them. We are not presented with evidence when we carry out investigations with regards to such companies. This work can only be done with the assistance of law-enforcement bodies," Maharramli said, adding that the Council has given permits to 11 entrepreneurs to carry out cable broadcasting. In addition, the Council is trying to decrease prices of cable broadcasting to enable the wider population access to it.
