Azerbaijan, Baku /corr Trend I.Alizade / There has been some disagreement in the definition of the agenda of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO. MP Siyavush Novruzov, an Azerbaijani parliamentary representative to PA NATO, a member of the Permanent Parliamentary Commission on Defense and Security of the Milli Majlis [the Azerbaijan Parliament], reported that talks are being carried out to clarify matters and the agenda will be publicized.
MP Novruzov stated that major issues included in the agenda are linked with Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. The PA NATO spring session will be held in Spain late this May during which time the Azerbaijani delegation to PA NATO will raise the issue of illegal dissemination weapons. "This issue concerns Azerbaijan. The Russian weapons withdrawn from Azerbaijan are sent to Armenia and placed in the uncontrolled territories. It represents a threat not only for Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, but also for Europe as a whole with regards to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline, which is an alternative energy source for Europe," Novruzov stressed.
