Azerbaijani and Polish Presidents Signed a Joint Declaration

Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr A. Ismayilova/ Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan's President has said during the today's joint press-conference with his Polish counterpart, Lech Kaczynski that Azerbaijan may successfully cooperate withh Poland in the field of electric energy. The Azerbaijani President also added that cooperation between our countries might turn into other forms in the future, Trend reports.

The Head of the Azerbaijani State noted that Azerbaijan closely cooperated with Poland both bilaterally and internationally. According to him, Azerbaijan has recently joined the EU Neighbourhood Policy, and signed Energetic Memorandum with EU. Mr. Aliyev expressed a hope that Poland would back Azerbaijan in this issue.

" Azerbaijan is the country where oil has been produced from time immemorial, and we hope that in the near future, our oil production will reach 60 mln. tons of oil per year," said the Azerbaijani President.

Mr. Aliyev noted that due to the "Shah-Daniz" Project, Azerbaijan could significantly increase its gas production. He also expressed a hope that Azerbaijani gas would reach the European market till the end of 2007. The Head of the Azerbaijani State said that Azerbaijan might cooperate with Poland in this issue as well, however, today, the increase in the production of blue fuel was the priority for the country.

The Azerbaijani President also stressed that the cooperation with Poland developed in the culture sphere as well, by marking the religious tolerance in Azerbaijan.

Lech Kaczynski, the Polish President, said that the parties had discussed the situation in the region, the EU's position, including Energy Strategy. He invited the Azerbaijani President to pay a return official visit to Poland.

Notably, the both leaders first held their negotiations tete-a-tete, and then held an extended meeting. According to these meetings, the Azerbaijani President and his Polish counterpart signed a Joint Declaration.
