Realny  Azerbaijan Newspaper Contains Facts of Terrorist Threats:   Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The Prosecutor-General of Azerbaijan, Zakir Garalov, briefed the media on 31 May that the website of Realny Azerbaijan newspaper founded by Eynulla Fatullayev contained facts of terrorist threats. According to him, Fatullayev is accused according to Article 214 (terrorism) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

"The newspaper described several State buildings of Azerbaijan and various concrete addresses which as though will be bombed by Iran. This information contains terrorist threats," the Prosecutor-General stated.

The Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan has filed a criminal case against the Editor-in-Chief of Gundelik Azerbaijan and Realny Azerbaijan, Eynulla Fatullayev, in compliance with the Article 214.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Fatullayev's newspapers have since ceased their activities.

Expressing his views towards the issue that nearly 21 journalists in Azerbaijan requested political asylum from foreign countries , Garalov said that they have such a right. In addition, he stressed that there is freedom of speech in Azerbaijan and all rights of the journalists are protected.
