Information on Jail of Azerbaijani Boxer is not Confirmed

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 May / corr. Trend K. Zarbliyeva/ The investigation has been conducted in the investigative cell of the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan at the instruction of the Ombudsman Administration in connection with the information about beating of the boxer Ramal Aliyev.

The bronze prize winner of the Sydney Olympic Games boxer Vugar Alakbarov and participant of the world and European championship Ramal Amanov was detained by the employees of the Central Office of the Foreign Ministry for Fight against Organized Crime. They are charged with threatening the founder of Inshaatchi -E OJSC Kanan Guliyev and using force against him and trying to rob his car of Toyota brand and his $10,000.

The Ombudsman Administration reported on 21 May that the investigation conducted in the temporary alimony cell of the Central Department for the Fight against Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry did not confirm information on Amanov's detention.

The employees of the Ombudsman Administration met with the boxer Vugar Alakbarov detained with Amanov. Alakbarov said during the conversation that he was not subject to violence, actions that could hurt his dignity and he added that he his is not displeased with the conditions in the cell.

Though Amanov is still in freedom, Alakbarov was detained with a charge of threatening by the decision of the Narimanov District Court.
