Azerbaijan opened the Azerbaijani Students and Alumni International Forum Public Association (ASAIF) last week.

The organization's founding meeting was attended by 30 graduates and students from 15 countries worldwide. Six youth representatives initiated the opening of the association.

Following a presentation by the founders, a chairman was elected in accordance with Azerbaijani law. The meting also selected an assembly secretariat and members of the counting commission. Subsequently, the organization's charter was approved.

The meeting registered candidates for several positions. The Central Auditing Committee was also formed consisting of three individuals, as well as a 17-member board and a 21-member council. Under the charter, the board consists of graduates and the council consists of youth who currently live and study abroad.

Orkhan Akbarov was elected the organization's chairman. Akbarov received his bachelor's and master's degrees abroad. He is currently completing his dissertation and is a member of UNDP in Azerbaijan. He has more than 10 years of work experience with the diaspora.
