Belarus international media forum opens in Minsk

The VI Belarus international media forum, which opens here on Wednesday, has drawn journalists and media experts from 21 countries. The forum will be held under the motto "Partnership for Future: Patriotism, Spirituality, and Unity", ITAR-TASS reported.

The forum is held by the Belarusian Information Ministry and the Belarusian Union of Journalists under the auspices of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation of the member-countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Permanent Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia (USBR), the CIS Executive Committee, the Belarusian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture, Defense, and a number of other organizations.

The Belarusian Information Ministry said the forum would continue for four days. A plenary session and a Summer School of Journalists are expected to be the most vivid events of the forum. Vladimir Garkun, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee -- Executive Secretary of the CIS, Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the USBR, and Oleg Proleskovsky, Belarusian Minister of Information, are expected to address those present at the plenary session which is to be held on June 24.

The session will also include thematic discussions on such subjects as "The Republic of Belarus in the Context of Contemporary Geopolitical Processes", "Civilized Unity as Basis for Sovereign Development of CIS Countries", and "New Role of the Media in the Fashioning of Political Realities".

The program of the Summer School of Journalists will include master classes, lectures, and discussions to be held by prominent scientists and journalists from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Israel, Poland, and Russia.

Deputy Chief of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Social and Political Affairs Department Arastun Mehdiyev, Trend Agency CEO Ilgar Huseynov and Head of the AzerTag International Relations Department Nazim Khidirov, etc. represent Azerbaijan at the event.
