Azeri gov't to allocate additional funds for school building in Baku, Absheron

The Azerbaijani government will allocate additional funds for the implementation of a program on construction of schools in Baku and Absheron peninsula, the Education Ministry told Trend.

In 2006 the government allocated approximately $2.2m for the implementation of the program. As a result of the implementation of the 3-year program 18 new schools for 12,880 children will be built in Baku and Absheron. 10 schools for 9,004 pupils will be built in Baku, while 8 schools for 3,876 seats in Absheron, the Ministry said. In general, approximately $7m is required for the implementation of the program.

Moreover, Baku plans to construct additional bloc of buildings for 65 schools for 39,380 children. In 2006-2008 Baku also plans to construct 5 schools more at the expense of the Saudi Fund for Development.
