George Washington University Held Azerbaijani Maugham Concert

The United States, Washington / Trend corr. M.Efendiyeva / The concert 'Azerbaijani Maugham' organized by the Azerbaijani-United States Chamber of Commerce was held in the George Washington University.

Hafiz Pashayev, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and head of the Diplomatic Academy and Yashar Aliyev, the Ambassador to the United States attended the concert.

Imamyar Hasanov, a member of a trio band has been playing the Kamancha ( Azerbaijan national instrument) since he was 7 years old and is the youngest soloist of the Azerbaijan National Band of Nation Instruments. Hasanov participated at the International Festival of Folklore Music in Iran, Kirghizistan, Russia, Canada, Turkey and the United States.

Rufat Hasanov has been playing the Tar (Azerbaijan National Instrument) since his childhood and received Higher Musical education in the Azerbaijani State Conservatory. Hasanov participated at the International Musical Festival in Turkey, Azerbaijan and the United States.

Pejman Hadadi (Daph and Tombak), twice awardees of Darphi Master Award was born in Tehran and is the founder of the Musical Academy Nayriaz in California.

The concert lasted several hours in which the band performed the well known Azerbaijan National songs such as Sari Galin, Bahar Sansiz and the national dance songs, Yalli, Turaji as well as Maugham Jahargar, Shur, Mahur and Jahargar-Shur.

Profits from the concert will be in aid of the children who live in refugee camps in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani-United States Chamber of Commerce will finance the construction of schools for children in Azerbaijan.
