Azerbaijan Participates in Meeting of Asian Development Bank

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend A.Badalova / The Asian Development Bank (ADB) held its first meeting which is a part of the bank's efforts to modernize its own protection policy.

The ADB has three protection courses, including the policy on forced replacement (1995), local population policy (1998) and environmental policy (1995). The constant upgrade of the protection policy was commenced for the improvement of efficiency of these ways and strengthening of their importance.

Modernization is directed at forming protection requirements for improvement of accuracy, consistency and stability; work in the direction of harmonization with protection practice through different financial institutes.

The consultative meetings target improvement of understanding of the perspectives of shareholder by the ADB and establishment of common understanding of protection goals, principals and requirements.

The first meeting was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Representatives from seven countries of Central and West Asia, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in the meeting. The participants were representatives of governments, non-governmental organizations, banks of academic and multilateral development.

The next meeting will be held in the region in the next few months.
