Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr A. Ismayilova, S. Aliyev / On 19 Dec, a new highway bridge was put intooperation in Baku. Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijan President attended the opening ceremony.
The new bridge is the sixth one constructed in Baku within the framework of the program, the improvement of transport infrastructure in Baku. Three more bridges are being constructed in Baku: nearby the Meshadi Azizbeyov metro station, nearby the Excelsior Hotel and nearby the Khalglar Dostlugu metro station.
By the beginning of 2008, the two first bridges are expected to be put into execution. The work is being carried out within the framework of the project, unloading of the transport infrastructure in Baku, on the basis of the presidential decree on the Improvement of Transport System in Baku for 2006-2007. The cost of project is assessed at AZN 300mln.
The expansion of the construction program to 2011, which will envisage the construction of 11 additional bridges, 13 large car parks and the other infrastructure, is being considered. The program has been approved and its implementation will be launched by the next year.
