Successes of Azerbaijan’s Oil Strategy Affect other fields of Industry in 2007

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / In January to December 2007 the volume of industrial production [good and services of industrial nature] in Azerbaijan made up AZN 20.247.8mln, or by 24% up as compared to 2006, the State Statistic Committee reported.

As a result of implementation of oil strategy the record induces were achieved in the oil and gas production, whereas progress was observed in other spheres of industry. Last year Azerbaijan for the time commenced the production of Belarus tractors and high tonnage trucks MAZ. After the 8-year break the production of iodine was restored and the production of new computers, видов компьютеров, plasma TV-sets were set up.

The growth rate in the extractive industry began decreasing again and the rise constituted 29% as compared to 30.2% in January to November, making up AZN 14.626bln, with specific weight making up 72.2% of total industrial production.

However, the growth rates in refinery industry increased by 1.2% and stood at 7.5% making up AZN 4.416.9mln (21.8%), electricity, gas and water sector rose by AZN 1.205.4mln amid drop by 7.6%.

The growth rate of industrial production continued within ten months due to rise of production in oil sector. The rise in oil produce sphere made up 29.4%, gas produce - 81.6% and oil process - 7.3%.

The rise in production of rubber and plastic mass constituted 42.9%, engineer and equipments- 57.7%, vehicles and equipments- 23.3%, wooden wares and wooden prices - 6.6%, foodstuff- 10.1% and construction materials - 28.8%.

From January to December 2007 the share of the state sector stood at 77.4% or AZN 15.668mln in total industry production. The rise in non-state sector made up 32.6%, but 1.6% in state sector.

Rise has been observed over the past three months, though cut in output continued in chemical industry, electricity, water and gas production and distribution.
