Azerbaijani medics can treat swine flu on high level: health ministry official

No swine flu case (А(H1N1)) has been revealed in Azerbaijan thus far, chief hospital attendant and deputy health minister Abbas Valibayov said.

"Though no swine flu case has been revealed in Azerbaijan, prevention against this disease is performed on a very high level," he said.

He said in case swine flu is revealed, Azerbaijani medics will be able to the disease in high level.

World Health Organization (WHO) decided to raise level of risk of infection with a new influenza A (N1N1) to the maximum sixth level. At the same time experts said note beginning of a new pandemic influenza virus for the first time since the Hong Kong flu of 1968. According to WHO, the United States continues to lead for number of patients in the world. To date, more than 13,000 cases have been registered, of which 27 were fatal.

Earlier, Secretary for Health and Human Services Kathleen Sibelius said that American specialists will create a vaccine against the swine flu by autumn. At present, the production lines are being set to begin production of the vaccine in late summer and be ready (to use it) by early autumn, she said.
