Turkmenistan has stabile growth of macroeconomic indices: government

Macroeconomic indices increase stably in Turkmenistan, Turkmen official source said.

It is indicated in statistic reports. High rate of GDP growth (106 percent) has been ensured as a result of nine months of 2009, first, owing to such branches as agriculture, construction, transport, communication, trade and services. 

Growth in production of electric power, fertilizers, non-metallic building materials, knitwear, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, as well as natural gas and oil extraction was achieved together with foreign companies from January to October 2009 compared to the same period of 2008.  

The volume of retail turnover was exceeded by 16 percent compared to the corresponding index of 2008.

The volume of investments from all financing sources increased 2.6 times in January-September compared to the same period of 2008.

Foreign trade turnover continues growing.

"Growth of GDP rates hit 106 percent in Turkmenistan despite the global economic-financial crisis. It was achieved thanks to making concrete measures to ensure macroeconomic stability, creating favorable investment atmosphere, support for private entrepreneurship", Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow said at the last governmental meeting.

He said that higher rates of economic development are expected to take place in 2010. It is stipulated by the objective prerequisites. It was also confirmed by the assessments of independent international financial organizations.

"It is necessary to conduct balanced economic policy using as before optimally Turkmen all huge opportunities to achieve its goals," he said.

He urged to pay special attention and actively invest in the branches, such as tourism and sanatorium-spa sector, capable to give more profit to the country, the Turkmen President said.
