Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov stated about " inadmissibility of the use of child labor during the cotton harvest, season of which will begin in mid-August, an official Turkmen source said.
He said it was said at one of the recent governmental meetings. Berdimuhammadov drew attention to the fact that all the cotton pickers should be kept as a standby.
"The State pays particular attention to agro equipment, allocating substantial funds for the purchase of the most productive agricultural machineries, so the maintenance and service of this equipment should be at the highest level," he said.
Berdimuhamedov noted that all the reception points should be fully equipped with fire-fighting equipment, and control over the quality of incoming raw material should be strengthened at cotton enterprises.
In 2010, from an area of 550,000 hectares it is planned to harvest over one million tons of cotton.
